  • 1993-1995: Department of Bone and Joint Surgery, Remscheid Hospital, teaching hospital.
  • 1995-1998: Department of General and Thoracic Surgery, Barmbek General Hospital, Hamburg, University of Hamburg Teaching Hospital.
  • 1998-1999: Department of General, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery.
  • 2000: Senior Physician, Department of Transplantation Surgery, University of Rostock.
  • 2001-2002: Chief Physician, Department of Surgery, Ruhr-University of Bochum.
  • 2002-2008: Chief Physician, Department of General and Vascular Surgery, Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main.
  • Since December 2008, Prof. Wulstein has been the Chief Medical Officer of the Department of General, Visceral and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Helios Krefeld Clinic.

Certification and scientific achievements

In 1995, Dr. Wullstein received his license to practice medicine in Germany. In 1999 he was certified as a surgeon and in 2002 as a visceral surgeon. In 2004, he completed a postdoctoral qualification in surgery at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University.

 

His research interests are focused on minimally invasive surgery, surgical oncology and transplantation surgery. He is the author of numerous publications in leading medical journals and has received prestigious awards, including the Roche Transplantation Award in 2003 and the Research Award of the Gastroenterology Research Group of Central Germany in 2004.

Dr. Wullstein is an active member of several professional societies:
