• In 1990, he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of Bonn, Germany.
• In 1991, he received his medical degree from the Rhenish University of Bonn.
• 1990-1992: Assistant physician at the Institute of Pathology at the University Hospital of Essen, Germany.
• 1992-1997: Assistant at the University Medical Clinic of the St. Joseph Hospital of the Ruhr University of Bochum, Germany.
• 1996: Qualified as a specialist in internal medicine.
• 1997: Expanded his specialization by receiving a qualification in gastroenterology.
• 1998: Defended his doctoral dissertation at the Ruhr University of Bochum.
• 1998-2001: Senior physician at the Medical Clinic No. 1 of the Municipal Clinical Hospital of Solingen.

Professor Pfaffenbach specializes in:

• Gastroenterology: Diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, including endoscopic procedures to detect and treat pathologies of the esophagus, stomach, intestines and pancreas.
• Oncology of the digestive organs: Treatment of benign and malignant neoplasms of the gastrointestinal tract, in particular cancer of the esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas and intestines.
• Endoscopic ultrasonography: Use of modern imaging techniques to diagnose diseases of the biliary tract, pancreas and other abdominal organs.
• Endoscopic surgery: Removal of stones from the biliary tract, treatment of benign intestinal neoplasms and other pathologies using minimally invasive techniques.

Professor Pfaffenbach is the author or co-author of more than 130 scientific publications in the field of gastroenterology and oncology. He actively participates in international conferences and symposia, where he shares his experience and knowledge with colleagues around the world.
