Dr. Andreas Sesterchenn

• Studied at the Medical Faculty of the Martin Luther University of Halle/Saale.
• Continued his education at the Military Medical University in Bethesda, Maryland, USA.
• Studied at the Charité Clinic at the Humboldt University of Berlin.
• Defended his dissertation on “Apoptosis and proliferation of cardiac muscle cells in biopsy samples obtained from the right ventricle in patients with and without rejection” at the German Heart Center Berlin under the supervision of Professor Roland Hetzer.
• In August 2000, he began his career as a research fellow at the Clinic for Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at the Philipps University of Marburg under the supervision of Professor I.A. Werner.
• In February 2002, he passed the medical specialist exam at the same clinic.
• In January 2006, he was appointed senior physician at the Clinic for Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Marburg.
• In October 2008, he defended his doctoral dissertation and received a teaching permit in the specialty of “Otolaryngology” at the University of Marburg, where he was appointed head of the department.
• In October 2008, he received an additional qualification in the specialty of “Plastic Surgery”.
• In March 2009, he received a qualification in the specialty of “Palliative Medicine” and completed a correspondence course in the specialty of “Hospital Business Administration”.
• In April 2010, he received the title of professor in the specialty of “Otolaryngology” at the Philipps University of Marburg.
